Ernest Compton, DVM

Ernest Compton, DVM

Director of Medicine / Veterinarian

Dr. Compton grew up in the suburbs north of Atlanta and moved to Savannah in 1988 after graduating from the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine. He is our director of medicine, addressing every critical aspect of the hospital and the associate veterinarians for both the Village and Crossroad locations. His years in the field and methodical demeanor make him highly valued. His colleagues rely heavily on his efficiency and expertise, particularly in the surgical suite. He and his wife, Shelly, live on Dutch Island. In his spare time, he enjoys training and competing in triathlons and snow skiing.

Mary Kelble, DVM

Veterinarian

Originally from Ohio, where she grew up with field trial English springer spaniels, Dr. Kelble moved to Savannah in 2014 and has been proud to call the Lowcountry home ever since. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Zoology with a minor in Anthropology from Miami University in 2001 and went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Dr. Kelble enjoys caring for both dogs and cats and has a special place in her heart for her three black cats—Briquette, Bjørn, and Reyk. Outside the clinic, she loves gardening, exploring the outdoors, and traveling as much as possible.
Alex Kennedy, DVM

Veterinarian

Originally from Destin, Florida, Dr. Alex Kennedy has had a lifelong passion for veterinary medicine. She began working in the field at just 12 years old and became a veterinary technician by the age of 15. She graduated with her Associate of Science in Biology at 18, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and an Associate of Science in Biochemistry from the University of West Florida in 2019. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2024. Dr. Kennedy has a strong interest in emergency medicine, neurology, ultrasound, and cytology, and she brings extensive experience from her time working in emergency and urgent care settings. Both her clients and her coworkers appreciate her kind demeanor as well as her thoroughness and attention to detail when it comes to caring for her patients. She now calls Savannah, Georgia, home, where she lives with her husband, Nick, and their four beloved pets—Harley, a Boxer, and three cats: Iris, Nemo, and Ghost. The move to Savannah came through Nick’s career in the military, and together they enjoy making it their new home.

Kathy G., LVT

Veterinary Technician / Receptionist

Kathy started working at Crossroad in June of 1978 after graduating as a registered veterinary technician, and also judged obedience trials for over 30 years. Although she retired from judging recently, Kathy still continues to exhibit in obedience with her own dogs. Currently, she shares her home with 2 border collies, Trace and Wick, and 2 cats, Onyx and Gibbs.

Kim moved to Savannah in 2003 with her 2 children as a Specialty Retail Manager. After the kids moved out, she decided to do what she truly loved and work in the veterinary field. Before landing at Crossroad Animal Hospital, she took animal behavioral classes and worked with shelter dogs and cats at the Humane Society for Greater Savannah. Now she lives with her two furry children, Louie and Senna, and spends her free time with her 3 granddaughters.

Originally from Virginia, Brittney has been in Savannah since 2013. She has been working in dog daycares, grooming salons, and veterinary clinics since 2014. Being a receptionist is her favorite, though. Brittney shares her home with 3 senior dogs—Scout, Molly, and Leland—and one cat, Dewey. She loves scary movies and cooking for her family.

Amy moved to Savannah from Swainsboro, Georgia, and has been part of the Crossroad Animal Hospital team since 2011. She earned her biology degree from Georgia Southern University in 2008 and later became a registered veterinary technician through Ogeechee Technical College in 2011. At home, she enjoys the company of her Chihuahua, Willie Nelson, and her kitten, Cleo. When she’s not caring for animals, Amy loves playing rugby with the women’s Savannah Shamrocks, crocheting cozy creations, and nurturing her growing collection of plants.

Since beginning her career in the veterinary field in 2015, Stormie has built a strong foundation in patient care, client support, and animal behavior. She holds a trade certificate in Veterinary Assistance and Companion Animal Handling and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in management to further strengthen her leadership and practice operations skills. With a special interest in animal behavior and client education, she is passionate about helping families understand their pets’ needs and creating positive experiences for even the most anxious animals. She is known for her calm, compassionate approach and her ability to make nervous patients feel safe and supported. Outside of work, Stormie enjoys an easy-going life at home with her wife, Cheyenne, their two dogs, Happy and Blair, and their cat, Hazel.

Chey is a Veterinary Nurse at Crossroad Animal Hospital, where she’s been providing compassionate care to pets and their families for the past two years. Raised in Savannah, she studied Veterinary Technology at Ogeechee Technical College and brings nearly a decade of hands-on experience in animal behavior, husbandry, and medical care. Known for her friendly personality and talent for giving everyone a nickname, Chey loves making each visit a positive and stress-free experience. When she’s not at the clinic, she enjoys fishing, gardening, playing bingo, and occasionally breaking into song. At home, she’s happily outnumbered by her three cats, Wilma, Dumplin, and MooMoo.

Originally from New Jersey, Sarah has called Savannah home for the past year and a half. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Zoo & Wildlife Biology from Liberty University and is passionate about providing attentive, compassionate care to animals of all kinds. As a military spouse, Sarah appreciates the sense of community she’s found here and enjoys helping pets—and their people—feel at ease. A lifelong cat lover, she especially enjoys making feline friends feel comfortable during their visits.
